State Trade Expansion Program

STEP Can Provide Your Company with Customized Export Assistance

The UTSA-International Trade Center in collaboration with Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA's) State Trade Expansion Program (STEP), is offering new-to-export and experienced export companies market research, one-on-one export advising, and on-site training.  All information provided will be customized to assist companies in growing their business internationally.  Participants will also be introduced to key international trade issues and provide an overview of the essential elements necessary to successfully enter global markets.

    International trade risks, HS classification, and export regulations.

  • Identifying and Selecting Markets

    Selecting the best markets, secondary vs. primary trade research, in-depth international market research, export tools and resources.

  • International Market Entry Strategies

    Foreign market entry options, international representation, agent and distributor agreements, international sales program and action plan.

  • Intercoms 2010

    Incoterms 2010, rules on modes of transport, how incoterms affect pricing, logistics, documentation & payment methods
  • International Pricing

    Factors affecting international price, calculating landed costs, price escalation and international pricing strategies.
  • International Payment Methods

    Understanding the risks, evaluating international payment methods, reviewing letters of credit and documentary drafts, export credit insurance, foreign exchange management and export financing options.
  • International Shipping and Logistics

    Roles of the most important players, selecting logistics providers, use of freight forwarders and customs brokers and modes of transportation.
  • International Documentation

    How to complete documentation, certificate of origin, liability in completing international documentation, international shipping documents and payment methods, risks and other legal issues.
